Solidarity

Description
In December 1970, the sudden rise in the cost of food, dock workers in Gdansk, Poland, went on strike and began protesting. The Communist Party of Poland brutally suppressed the strikers, resulting in the killing of 44 dock workers. 10 years later, amid the Solidarity Movement that would signal the beginning of the end of Communism in Poland, this monument to those strikers was erected, the first in a Communist country to commemorate the victims of Communism.
